Once the car had arrived back in Melbourne, the boys started work on fabricating an aluminium fuel tank. A carboard template was created to visually see what it would look like as well as be used for diamentions. A bit of bending and welding and the tank was done. New floor pans were made and welded in the boot as well as a new Battery craddle. Then the boot lock was the next job, with a trick design to enable the boot to be opened from outside the car with a simple lever hidden near the fuel filler, which is an aircraft style filler to give that go fast and clean look.
